I don't feel I've much to say, Yet I can't stop Yammering anyway. All these words Don't make much sense Once they're halfway Out of my mouth. I wish I'd shut up, wish I'd shut my fucking mouth. Wish I could silence all the thinking, I could really do without. I was wrong, no surprises there. I'm half way to had it up to here. I'm alive, but just for now, and I'm thinking some things ain't gonna work themselves out. I wish I'd shut up, wish I'd shut my fucking mouth Wish I could silence all the thinking I could really do without Will you shut up for a second?

You're like trying to watch grass grow Scurrying over the lawn first to then fro The second I look away is when you start to go The sun in my eyes and the dirt on my soles We are, we aren't We are, we aren't You're like pools without their chlorine Steady in place with little nodules of green And you're lit up in the gloaming An oasis of foreboding We are, we aren't I told you we are We are, we aren't I told you we aren't

I can talk to you about the evil things that other people do in service of their kings you can sharpen swords and I can show you the signs that this was meant to be as if by some design I'm losing you as if by some design Rob the raven's nest of the organ in your chest Grapple with your lungs You can say you did your best I'm losing you as if by some design

Pitting me against the open road Trash bags full of unused clothes Round here almost anything goes Now strike for me your mendicant's pose Blazing heat when we saddled and rode Travel light and abide by no code There's time, maybe we can get by Red sun, watch the cardinal fly Down here where the pestilence roams In rampant mansions and emptied out homes You're sure to sight a familiar face Killed flowers in an ornate vase I'd die, I'd die For you and I

about

Éditions Appærent is delighted to present Temporary Plates Take An Exit, the new album from enigmatic New York producer Sharp Veins, which sees him drawing his mystical synth explorations from out of the swamp and into the sunlight.

His most direct release to date still finds him knee-deep in blurred and hazy compositional territory, but with foregrounded vocals and pop hooks blooming out of the dust. A cache of homemade unheimlich road movie cassingles that spent too much time baking in the sun, Temporary Plates Take An Exit is direct in its approach and length while still following the producer on his usual explorations into various territories like canned orchestral dark ambient, screwed and sunblind pop, and concrète power ballads.

There’s a grubby fidelity to these songs that nevertheless fails to hide their pop charm, like the Dawson’s Creek theme song blasting out of a blown speaker in a pickup cab. Lead single “Please Stop Talking” is built around an anthemic chorus and a dehydrated motorik beat, singing the ultra-relatable: “I wish I’d shut my fucking mouth.” Shot through with strains of early-00s indie and a shoegazing refusal of clarity, even the instrumental songs on the record have an evocative sense of narrative to them.
